The Weekly geek
Updated: May 4
Sup, nerds! Here's a short list of stuff I'm geeking out about this week.
My favorite movie announcement of the year: The live-action Hercules is finally happening. Infinity War and Endgame's Russo Brothers will produce. No release date or cast announcement yet, which means I have time to hit the weights for my audition. Also, we better keep that banger of a soundtrack.
Movie I took too long to see: 1917. The film follows two British soldiers as they travel through dangerous territory to deliver a message that will stop 1,600 men from walking into a trap. That's it. That's the premise. Beautiful, unbroken shots convey a sense of space, tension, and danger in a way I've never quite seen before. Sam Mendes wrote and directed this homage to his grandfather's experiences in WWI. Even if you're not a fan of war movies, give this one a shot.
Awesome Star Wars website I'm using: Youtini. You may know that I'm working my way through canon Star Wars adult and young adult novels in a low-key campaign to one day write a Star Wars book. Youtini is the final word on the Star Wars Extended Universe, and I'm using their handy Bookshelf feature to track what I've read and what's next on my wish list. Be on the lookout for links to my reviews coming soon.
Announcement I'm making: I now write for Youtini! I must have tricked the creative team into thinking my work doesn't totally suck, so they added ya boy as the newest content creator! But for real, I'm super pumped to join this community of readers and geek out about Star Wars. If you feel like being a nerd with us, join our Discord.
That's it! Big week for a geek. If you like these lists or know someone who would, consider subscribing or sharing!
