The Weekly Geek
Updated: Apr 3
Sup, nerds. Here's a short list of stuff I'm geeking out about:
Documentary I'm watching: How Should We Then Live? This documentary examines the ties between God, religion, and civilization. It's super old and low budget, and it shows. But man does it make some profound statements about how civilizations are shaped by their citizens' faith. When I said documentary, did you think I was talking about Tiger King?
Another documentary I'm watching: Tiger King. Yeah okay, I couldn't stay away from it. It's just as nuts as you've heard.
Game I'm playing: Animal Crossing. Follow up to my last post. It DOES have crafting!
Book series I picked up after 10 years: Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I don't remember thinking much of the middle-grade series when I read the first book back in 2010. But last week I picked up the second book, The Sea of Monsters, and wondered why I never finished the series. They're such fun reads.
Browser I'm using: Brave. I don't like the idea of websites collecting and selling my data. Brave is a browser built to preserve your privacy. It's built using Google's open-source Chrome code, meaning it acts like Chrome but isn't overseen by Google. It's free to use, and you can opt-in to their ad program, where you earn credits by allowing certain privacy-preserving ads into your browsing experience.
That's it for this week. What are you enjoying during your quarantine?
